In this column, we will discuss the issue of frost when using heat pumps for vehicle heating. As explained in the 16th column, heat pumps extract heat from the air, and the total of the extracted heat and the compression energy from the compressor is used as a heating source. When the outside air is cold, refrigerant at temperatures below minus 10°C passes through the outdoor unit, cooling the air with that refrigerant, which causes condensation, and the condensed water freezes. Over time, this begins to block the entire surface of the outdoor heat exchanger, resulting in no airflow and preventing heat exchange. Pokara Onsui is also perfect for renovations! Last month, we carried out the installation of a heat pump in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture. First, we rechecked for leaks using a newly created air gauge. After that, we installed a Daikin heat pump. The procedure involved connecting the hot water tubes to the main unit, insulating them, connecting the 200V power supply and ground, and connecting the signal line to the remote control. Then, we injected antifreeze and conducted a trial run after the initial setup. This time, we had two systems for the living room and dining kitchen. We performed the trial run and confirmed the temperature rise before finishing. The total time taken was about 3 hours with two people. Pokara Onsui is also skilled in renovations.
